Jerome homeowner holds burglary suspect at gunpoint while awaiting deputy’s arrival

Early Wednesday morning deputies from Jerome County arrested a man after they were notified a homeowner had a person at gunpoint. Lt. Dan Kennedy with the Sheriff’s Office said at 4:50 A.M., they were called to 606 BMK Lane. When they arrived they found homeowner John Wiersma detaining a Hispanic male. He told authorities he heard voices near his pickup. Wiersma said he found a person in his vehicle and fired a “warning shot.” The suspect then reportedly came over towards the back door of the residence and attempted to enter.
