Brian joined the Idaho’s First News family in May of 2011. The intermountain west is a far cry from the corn fields of Martinsville, Indiana where Brian grew up, and the Great Lakes where he spend most of his career before moving to Southern Idaho. Looking around at the beautiful mountain landscape Brian knew forecasting the weather for Southern Idaho would definitely be an exciting challenge.

Brian graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. During his college years, Brian was active in the Purdue bands playing trumpet.  It was his love of music and performing jazz that made Brian decide to go into broadcasting with his meteorology degree.

His first TV job was in Bismarck, North Dakota at KFYR-TV in 2001 as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter. From North Dakota, Brian moved to the shores of Lake Erie, in Erie, Pennsylvania in 2003. He continues on as the weekend meteorologist, it was here and later in Rochester New York that his understanding for mountain meteorology would begin.

Brian is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM), an accreditation awarded by the American Meteorological Society. He also holds his seal of approval from the National Weather Association.

Brian's love for the weather began even before he entered grade school. Living in Indiana, he grew up with severe storms and the power and beauty had him hooked. As a child Brian was a regular viewer of The Weather Channel and local weather programs.

If you have ever talked to Brian you know he has a strong passion for weather and is willing to talk about it anytime and anyplace. When he isn’t talking or looking at the weather he enjoys watching and following NASCAR. For those that don’t know, Brian is known by many in the NASCAR garage as the “NASCAR Weatherman.” He has a large social media following from Twitter and Facebook where he has teams and drivers like Danica Patrick, Jimmie Johnson, Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton following him, just to name a few. Besides NASCAR, he enjoys following the Indianapolis Colts, the New York Yankees, his Purdue Boilermakers in both Football and Basketball and has been known to watch a Boise State game or two pulling for the Broncos.

Brian Lives in Twin Falls with his wife and 3 boys. His family loves calling southern Idaho their home and they especially love being involved in the community and just meeting new people when he is out. If you see Brian out and about across the community feel free to say  “hi” and don’t worry about asking him about the weather, he’ll be ready.
