Each year Magic Valley Law Enforcement Agencies participate in the Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run and Tip-a-Cop fundraising events in support of the Special Olympics Idaho. The funds raised help Special Olympics Idaho offer year-round training and athletic competition in 13 Olympic-type sports and 5 Unified Sports to more than 1,900 athletes.Return to event list.
The athletes are persons eight years of age and older with intellectual disabilities, giving them the continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. With fundraising events like Tip-a-Cop, we can ensure that programs of the Special Olympics can be offered to athletes free of charge. It also raises public awareness of Special Olympics and the skills and abilities of individuals with intellectual disabilities.
During the Tip-a-Cop fundraiser, Magic Valley Law Enforcement Officers wait tables to raise money. All tips given to the Officers are donated to Special Olympics. We also have a silent auction where donations received from various businesses are auctioned off. This year the Tip-a-Cop event will be held at Perkins Twin Falls, on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, from 6am to 6pm.
