Event Description

GOODING COUNTY IS TURNING 100 YEARS OLD AND WE ARE CELEBRATING WITH A CENTENNIAL PARADE - ** SPECIAL GUESTS ** THE 25TH ARMY NATIONAL GUARD BAND FROM BOISE will be leading the parade on SATURDAY, JUNE 29, 2013 at 10 am on Main Street in Gooding, Idaho as part of the Western Heritage and Ranch Rodeo weekend. Lineup at ISDB back parking lot beginning at 8:30 am, Judging at 9:30 am. After the parade, the Army Band will perform in smaller groups at the annual Gooding Firemen’s Picnic at West Side Park from 11 am to 2 pm. The Idaho Operation Lifesaver trolley will be in the parade and will give rides at the Gooding Fairgrounds all day. They are known for promoting railroad safety. The Gooding County Historical Society is helping with the Centennial Parade. The theme is: “Happy 100th Birthday, Gooding County”. The Gooding County Commissioners will have prize money for some of the parade entrants. We are seeking float entrants, horse and wagons, horse and riders, youth groups, vintage cars and tractors, other bands, etc. (Please no loose herding animals and no sirens). Also, if you have a historical exhibit (soap making, blacksmithing, etc.) that you would like to share at the fairgrounds, please contact the GCHS Events Coordinator, Judy Erdman at grins@dishmail.net or at 934-9475 or call the Gooding County Museum at 934-5318 for more information. The Western Heritage and Ranch Rodeo includes the following: Western Heritage & Ranch Rodeo at the Gooding County Fairgrounds Friday (6/28)— Ranch Rodeo at 7 pm Sat.(6/29)—5K & 10K Fun Runs at 7 am (by Helping Hearts and Hands) Sat.—Buckaroo Breakfast at 7:30 am Sat.—Fiddler’s State Championship 8am-6pm Sat.—Draft Horse Rodeo at 11 am Sat.—Stick Horse Rodeo at 2 pm Sat.—Ranch Rodeo at 7 pm
