Event Description

On Saturday, September 7, 2013, at 12:00 noon, the City of Rupert will hold an open house and ribbon cutting for the public at the City’s recently renovated Outdoor Shooting Complex.

The gun range facility is located near the City’s wastewater lagoons, north of Rupert City limits at 480 North 100 East, Rupert. The property, which was acquired by the City in 1977 has, until this year, been primarily used by Rupert and Minidoka County Police officers for gun skill and safety training.

In recent years, however, the shooting range has been opened to non-law enforcement gun enthusiasts who gather together to practice target shooting. This group, known as the Cowboy Action Shooters, will also be present during the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Renovations include the placement of shade awnings, paved shooting lines, a refurbished parking lot, a new rifle range, and new signage. The City of Rupert is working to make this facility widely available to the community.

Open range dates have been set by the City for the public to use the range and will be available on the City’s website. The range can also be scheduled privately for a nominal fee by contacting the Rupert Police Department at 434-2330.
