Event Description

City of Rocks National Reserve turns 25; and the National Park Service in partnership with the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation are throwing a party this Saturday, September 14.

Activities begin 9 a.m. at the visitor center with exhibits. The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. with special guests Idaho Speaker of the House Scott Bedke, National Park Service Deputy Regional Director Chip
Jenkins, and State Parks Director Nancy Merrill.

Immediately following the ceremony, visitors are welcomed to a behind‐the‐scenes facility tour, Dutch oven lunch ($6 children/$10 adults), opening of the 20th Anniversary time capsule and internment for
the 25th. Afternoon activities include a California Trail auto tour, guided geological hike, climbing demonstration, Idaho Falconers Exhibition, children’s pioneer games, wagon rides, and horse rides.

In the evening, enjoy free cake and a concert at Castle Rocks with the group Strings Attached. Park Superintendent Wallace Keck will present the evening program “City of Rocks: the next 25 years.”

Events conclude with a Star Party, provided by the Magic Valley Astronomical Society. Park entrance fees have been waived for the event. For more information call the park at 208‐824‐5910.
