Event Description

Musical Groups from the Band, Orchestra, and Choral Departments of Wood River High School will share the stage for a gala holiday concert on Monday, December 9, at 7 pm. The concert will be held at the Wood River High School Performing Arts Theater in the Blaine County Community Campus, and will feature the Jazz Band, the Dixie Band, the Chamber Orchestra, the String Orchestra, and choral groups Enchanté, Colla Voce, and the B-Tones.

The concert, under the direction of Band Director Tony Randall, Orchestra Director Rebecca Martin, and Choral Directors Max Stimac and R.L. Rowsey, will feature many holiday favorites. This unique, collaborative concert will end with a nostalgic thriller as all the groups come together to perform a medley from Irving Berlin’s movie, White Christmas.

The funds raised from donations and ticket sales will help defray the transportation costs of the spring trip to the Heritage Music Festival in Anaheim, California, where all WRHS bands, orchestras, and choirs will compete and receive national evaluations. The music department has incorporated participation in this festival as a learning tool and curriculum enhancement for many years.

For those who would like to support this effort but are unable to attend the concert, contributions may be made by mailing your check made out to the Wood River High School Music Department to Rebecca Martin c/o WRHS, 1250 Fox Acres Road, Hailey, ID 83333.

For tickets, which cost $15, and other information on the concert, please call Rebecca Martin at Wood River High School, 578-5020, extension 2367.
