They were the Double H Buckaroos. And they were "the happiest band in Idaho land." Led by front man Holland Houfburg - better known as "Happy Holly" - the band delighted local audiences with their homegrown style of country music in the 1950s and 1960s. Houfburg first entertained audiences with his KLIX-radio programs and then starred in an after-school children's program on KLIX-TV and KMVT. For adults, the Double H Buckaroos were at the center of local nightlife, performing at every hot spot from the Twin Falls County Fair to the Radio Rendezvous. The Double H Buckaroo band was the house band at Cactus Pete's in Jackpot, Nev. and played with many Nashville stars including Rex Allen, Johnny Cash, and Johnny Horton. The Twin Falls County Historical Society will host an open house at the museum for its Buckaroo exhibit during Twin Falls' Western Days celebration. Join us as we meet friends and family members of the band. The museum is located on Hwy 30, 2.5 miles west of St. Lukes Hospital in the old Union School at Curry Crossing.Return to event list.
