TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Following the City Club of Southern Idaho's Republican gubernatorial forum candidate Tommy Ahlquist headed over to Sips Sweets and Treats in Twin Falls for a meet-and greet.

Those in attendance were able to ask the candidate questions as well as receiving a free "Tommy Twist" soda and party cookies for $1.

Ahlquist says he enjoys meeting the public and reaching community members on a personal level.

"I think a lot of time we think we know what's going on, but until you get down and actually listen to people, hear those issues, internalize them, it's the best part because you know what they need. And hopefully government, sometimes we forget it's government that serves the people not the other way around,” Ahlquist said.

Ahlquist hopes to bring a fresh approach to Idaho politics as he is a physician and business owner.

Gov. C. L. "Butch" Otter announced he will not run for re-election for a fourth term.
