Blinking yellow turn lights help with flow of traffic

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Twin Falls residents are seeing some changes to their traffic lights.

On many major intersections, blinking yellow left turn signals are being added to help the flow of traffic.

This way if there is a break in the opposite direction of traffic, you can still turn left on yellow after yielding.

Before, cars could back up pretty far when the signal would only turn green for a short amount of time.

“I think it saved some time, sometimes like you said the traffic is steady and you really can't use them, but other times it's not,” said Ruth Rahe.
“Actually, I like them. I think their great,” said Patty Sheridan.

“It is caution, you just exercise caution and look both ways to see if any cars are coming and then when you see no cars coming just go ahead because it's a yellow light.”

Major intersections with longer turn bays are getting the upgrades, which will allow for traffic to flow a little more smoothly during peak hours.
