This week we're taking you to Murtaugh Lake. Day Trippin' brought to you by Jack’s Tire and Oil and Lets Ride Suzuki.
On this week’s Day Trippin, we take you to a nearby lake for camping, fishing and boating opportunities!
As the last few weeks of warm summer weather continue in August, it's a good time to consider a trip to Murtaugh Lake near Highway 30 east of Hansen.
Murtaugh Lake is a reservoir that stores water for the Twin Falls Canal Company, and it doubles as a recreation area managed by Twin Falls county, with many RV camping and tent–camping spots, close to many southern Idaho communities. The lake has boat ramps where you can launch a boat, day use shelters, public drinking water and more.
Camping fees are very reasonable – only $15 for RV's and $5 for tent–campers.
Call the campground host if you'd to reserve a spot, 208–539–1656 but call early in the week to get the best spots.
If you like to fish, Murtaugh Lake has catfish, bluegill, perch and a few bass.
You also can go power boating at Murtaugh Lake, water skiing, kayaking, canoeing, stand up paddle boarding and sailing.
Murtaugh Lake is popular with families because of the many activities that are possible to do there. Large groups can reserve shelters with bbq's for parties.
Pets are allowed, but they should be kept on a leash.
To reach Murtaugh Lake, take U.S. Highway 30 about 10 miles east of hansen. Pick up any last minute supplies in Kimberly or Hansen.
That's this week’s Daytrippin!
