Fire prevention week wraps up in Jerome

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - Fire prevention week was Oct. 9 to 13 and wraps up at Jefferson Elementary School on Friday

This year's theme is Two Ways Out, where kids learn about needing to have a plan with their family and a safe meeting place if a fire were to take place.

The fire department said the program improves every year and is beneficial to them when the kids learn about fire safety at a young age.

Jeff Hanni, a driver and firefighter at the Jerome Fire Department, said, "What we want kids to get out of this is for one to be safe with fire, don't play with fire and to be safe to make sure that their family is safe where there is a fire."

To cap off fire prevention week, the fire department will have a pancake breakfast Oct. 14 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. in front of City Hall and the community is invited.
