Forest Service gives tentative approval for Cold Springs project

KETCHUM, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Sun Valley skiers and mountain bikers could see a whole new resort next season.

The U.S. Forest Service is giving a tentative green light to Sun Valley Ski Resort's latest project.

Last year the resort showed off its plan to expand the Cold Springs lift.

This would make it so the lift starts a little lower than it does now, opening up nearly 400 acres of more advanced terrain for skiers and an upgraded and rerouted trail for mountain bikers.

The resort hopes to begin work this summer, but the Forest Service has some restrictions on the start date to help minimize impact on wildlife.
