STANLEY, Idaho (News Release) – The 10 mile section of Idaho 75 over Galena Summit is closed Wednesday due to avalanche activity.
The roadway is closed between galena Lodge and Frenchman Creek turnout.
Crews have been able to maintain a single lane of travel over galena summit for use by emergency vehicles.
“There was a larger slide near the top, coming off what is Titus Ridge. The vast majority of the snow had not yet come off of that major slide zone and instead of trying to allow the public to continue through that dangerous area, the decision was made to close the roadway to the public and try to maintain one lane through that area for emergency vehicles,” said Nathan Jerke, Idaho Transportation Department.
