BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With a statewide surge in package deliveries, the United States Postal Service urges Idahoans to ship their Christmas packages early.
So far this holiday season Idaho postal carriers have delivered a record 2 million packages.
That's 150,000 more than this time last year.
In order to keep up with the volume, the Postal Service is extending its hours to include evenings, Sundays and early mornings.
In order to avoid the hustle and bustle of the holidays, USPS recommends using Click-N-Ship, on the USPS website to ship packages, using the 24-hour self-service kiosks located in the lobby of most post offices. The USPS noted customers can signing up for its new service, informed delivery, which allows customers to see what packages are in route and to receive daily emails showing what mail will be delivered.
