Jazz on the Canyon event to raise money for local music programs

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – The 16th Annual Jazz on the Canyon kicks of Wednesday night, and continues Thursday with live music, auctions and fine dining to support music programs in the area.

The sponsors evening Wednesday, June 29 from 6-9 p.m. at the Twin Falls Center for the Arts, 195 River Vista Place is sold out, and will feature a silent auction, and performance by the College of Southern Idaho summer Jazz Camp students, who will open for Bruce Innes Trio.
The public event, which is also sold out, will be Thursday night at Elevation 486, 195 River Vista Place, with music by Mike Frew, Scott Farkas, and CSI summer Jazz Camp students who will open for the Crescent Super Band.

Jazz on the Canyon was created to raise funds to support music education. Proceeds support the College of Southern Idaho’s summer Jazz Camp, the Twin Falls Education Foundation and Magic Valley Arts Council’s music education through the coordination of the Arts on Tour Student Outreach.

This year Clif Bar came in as a sponsor and starting next year the event will be called Jazz on the Clif.

The organizing committee is comprised of Mike McBride, Carolyn White, Linda Watkins, Scott Farkas, Chris Scholes, Thad Scholes, Bill Brulotte, Bob Sojka and Melissa Pease.
