JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The city of Jerome is asking residents to help clear and keep storm drains clear in the city.
According to a city news release, the melting snow and ice makes flooding a concern. Crews continue to clear drains, but the effort is ongoing. The city has hundreds of storm drains and the recent weather conditions has made keeping them all clear a challenge.
Residents are being asked to help identify and keep their storm drains clear and to avoid shoveling snow and ice into the roadways and gutters. This will help mitigate major flooding.
The city provided a map to show the location of known storm drains. New subdivisions have fewer storm drains, but also have stormwater retention ponds.
Residents are asked to call the Public Works Department at 324-9669 if a storm drain is covered by too much ice and snow or if water begins accumulating.
