TWIN FALLS, Idhao (KMVT/KSVT) - A 20 year old man, Dakota Dean Turner, was charged with five counts of felony trafficking of heroin and one count of delivery within 1000 feet of a school.
According to an affidavit, on Nov. 14, 2016, Idaho State Police conducted an undercover operation to purchase heroin from Turner.
Detectives were stationed monitoring the transaction, while a sergeant wore an electric transmitting device for the operation.
ISP purchased 3.4 grams of heroin from Turner for pre-recorded US currency of $510. The transaction took place near Bickel Elementary School in Twin Falls.
According to court documents, Turner introduced himself as Dean, and stated that it was “powder” and it was good. Turner warned to be careful if shooting it. He stated he went to Salt Lake City to get the heroin, and “like five people” have died off it.
Turner said he goes to Utah every other day to buy more heroin from his source. Turner also told the undercover sergeant that he would give a better deal if the undercover sergeant bought a larger quantity.
Another undercover operation took place on Dec. 1, 2016. Court documents say the undercover sergeant met Turner in Heyburn. He exchanged 3.4 grams of heroin for $580.
On Dec. 5, 2016, Turner and the undercover sergeant met on the south side of the Hansen Bridge. They exchanged 7.2 grams of heroin for $1400, according to the affidavit.
On Dec. 15, 2016, Turner and the undercover sergeant met in Twin Falls County and exchanged 2.5 grams of heroin for $400.
On Jan. 3, 2017, an Idaho State Police Forensic Lab Report showed all substances purchased from Turner tested positive for heroin.
The affidavit also states that ISP obtained information from the GPS on Turner’s vehicle, and it showed he traveled to Utah six times between Nov. 16, 2016 and Jan. 3, 2017. The court documents say Idaho State Police assumes those trips were made to purchase heroin.
On Jan. 6, 2017, Idaho State police conducted one last undercover operation to arrest Turner. Turner and the undercover sergeant met at Dick’s Sporting Good in Twin Falls and exchanged 3.3 grams of heroin for $750.
Turner’s preliminary hearing is set for Jan. 20, 2017. He is in Twin Falls County Jail, and his bond is set for $250,000.
