On The Course: Drive for show

SUN VALLEY, Id. ( KMVT / KSVT ) They say drive for show, put for dough, and this week it's all about the show.

The Sun Valley Golf pros have a couple of tips for your drive.

"The driver is the longest club in the bag, therefore it should fly the furthest.

The misconception we have is that we have to swing harder to get it to fly further.

That's not the case. We want to have looser muscles because they swing faster than tightened muscles.

Tight muscles are slow.

So if we can loosen our bodies, swing with good tempo, we're able to hit that ball a little bit further.

So with your driver, you want to position the ball up in your stance.

If you want to get a visual you can always lay your ball down in the middle of your stance and move your body over so you can see that it's off your left foot.

The purpose is to swing up into the ball and the ball height should be right above the top line, equal with the center of the ball.

Once we have the ball positioned with our stance we want to take a nice, wide, smooth swing, with loose muscles and we want to follow through."

One for the money, two for the show.

Now that your driving is on fire, next week we're bringing it to the green, to putt for dough.
