One dead after Blaine County car accident

BLAINE COUNTY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) According to a press release, just after 11 a.m. Sunday morning, Blaine County Communications was notified of a 2-vehicle crash with injuries near Gannet and Pero Roads.

Douglas R. Andres, 65 years old, from Portland, Oregon was traveling southbound in a red 200 Ford F350 truck with no passengers.

Andres' vehicle traveled left of center and into the northbound lane of travel where it collided with a white 1999 Ford F250, driven by 35 year old Rafael Saldana-Saldana of Carey, Idaho.

Passengers in Saldana-Saldana’s vehicle were identified as 28 year-old Efern Renteria Saldana of Carey, 39 year-old Julio Juarez Saucedo, of Carey, 31 year-old Marco Vargas-Renteria, of Carey, and 18 year-old Alejandro Figueroa Saldana, also of Carey.

Andres’ vehicle struck the driver’s side of Saldana-Saldana’s truck causing it to rotate counter clockwise, prior to rolling once, coming to rest on the east shoulder of Gannett Road.

After the collision Andres’ vehicle also continued east onto the shoulder of Gannett Road. It’s unknown if Andres was wearing a seatbelt, and only Saldana-Saldana and Renteria Saldana were wearing seatbelts from their vehicle. All the occupants of Saldana-Saldana’s vehicle were transported to St. Luke’s Wood River by ground.

The extent of their injuries is unknown.

While Deputies were still on scene investigating the crash, Andres had a medical emergency. Andres was transported to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center by ground ambulance, where he was pronounced deceased.

The accident is still under investigation.
