FILER, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — “Three, two, one… It’s Christmas!” With that Santa lit the Christmas tree in Filer.
City workers spent the week decorating Main Street and the tree in the center of town.
Thursday night Santa lead the countdown to light them. People in town came out to see Santa and eat chili afterwards.
Organizers said it felt good to do something as a community, especially after a few months of divisiveness between residents and their city government.
"We just want to do a little healing and try to get people back together, we've had a really good response from everybody, it's been really positive and everything," said Joe Lineberry of the Filer events committee.
The Filer events committee organized the decorations and Thursday night’s event. They say they plan on doing more things like this to get the committee untied again.
