TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - An O'leary Middle School group is taking action to help shelter animals.

The Tesla Robotics team is collecting pet food.

Their efforts started at the beginning of the month and they will continue to collect items for another week.

After their collection drive, they will donate the food to the local pet shelter.

If you would like to help with their efforts, you can drop off items in the boxes throughout the O'Leary Middle School campus.

"We need more cat food than dog food but we'll still accept dog food. Our focus after this will be changing some of the laws for animal abuse," said Cole Kelley, robotics team member.

One of the ways they want to change those laws is to increase fines for those guilty of animal abuse.
