Wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain was the predominant precipitation Wednesday evening as the storm arrived across southern Idaho. Because of the sleet and freezing rain snow amounts across I-84 corridor from Burley to Twin Falls, Jerome are expected to be less. Now it could be anywhere from 1 to maybe 4 inches of snow.
It has been reported as all snow from near Gooding to Shoshone, Dietrich, Richfield and up into the Wood River Valley. Accumulations there could range between 4 to 8 inches of snow by morning.
Road conditions will deteriorate as the snow and even ice increase overnight into Thursday. It may be best to not travel Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Winds could be strong out of the northeast between 10 to 20 mph around Jerome and the Western Magic Valley. While most of the snow will be wetter there could be some blowing and drifting on area roadways.
Light snow will continue into the first half of Thursday and another 1 to maybe 5 inches in some spots could fall. The storm system pushes off to the east late in the day and clears out Thursday night into Friday. Temperatures could briefly warm to near 35 before falling.
