St. Luke's seeks volunteers to match hospital growth

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) If you’re looking for a rewarding volunteer opportunity or a chance to give back to your community, consider St. Luke’s Magic Valley.

Shuttle drivers are in great demand right now as the hospital prepares to open their new medical plaza in a few months.

If you prefer something a little different, greeters are needed at the hospitality desk to help patients as they walk through the front doors.

The volunteer program will soon begin a hand massage service to help patients or loved ones reduce their stress and anxiety while in the hospital.

The feedback from the program has been very positive.

“They always feel like they get far more out of the program than they give,” said Kim Patterson, Manager of Volunteer Services. “They're always surprised by that I think initially because they entered into the program wanting to volunteer to help others and they get so much back in return that it's indescribable.”

In order to be eligible you must be 18 years or older.

Good candidates are retirees or those who are interested in a career in the medical field and would like to be involved in the environment.

And don't worry about scheduling, Kim says they always make it work.
