(FOX/CBS) — CBS confirmed rock legend Tom Petty, 66, died Monday following cardiac arrest.
The music icon, known for classic hits like "Free Fallin'," "I Need to Know" and "American Girl,” was found unconscious Sunday night not breathing and in full cardiac arrest, according to law enforcement sources.
He was rushed from his Malibu home to UCLA Santa Monica hospital and put on life support.after being found unconscious and not breathing Sunday night.
Earlier Monday, he was said to be critical from the moment he was found.
Petty skyrocketed to stardom with his band, the Heartbreakers in 1978.
With hits like "Breakdown" and "Even the Losers."
He completed a massive tour just last week ending at the Hollywood Bowl.
