TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) Twin Falls County Veterans Services has moved to a new office at County West, but they're also unveiling an added bonus to their new location.
Veteran’s Services moved into Twin Falls County West with the priority to better assist veterans.
"Commissioner Hall has this vision of getting the veterans for a one-stop-shop. With that in mind the first thing was to get the office out here and now we are going the D.A.V. Van,” Calvin said.
Calvin Armstead sees veterans young and old in his office with ranging needs.
The biggest misconception that people may have is exactly what they qualify for and how the county can help.
"They can come here get the Veteran Services that they need. They can do the Social Security office, Human Resource office, DMV. So we are trying to make this as easy as possible for the veterans when they come for the services they need," Calvin said.
An added bonus that veterans services offers is a D.A.V. van that transports veterans for free from twin falls to the Boise VA and back.
The van will officially call County West home on November 6th.
"They call me and set up an appointment. They say hey I have an appointment at the Boise VA at 10 AM. So what I do is I put them on a list. We have volunteer drivers that drive every day of the week. And at that point we schedule them on the DAV Van," Calvin said.
The new location is accommodating as the winter months approach because where the van is going to be parked will protect it from snow, and allow veterans to board the van in a warm area.
