TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) - School starts in just a matter of weeks and a Twin Falls Best Buy sales manager spoke to KMVT on what should think about before buying students their gadgets.
"We're seeing a lot more technology show up nowadays," said Crystal Morris, the assistant store sales manager.
Morris said many students are actually exposed to technology before they enter school.
"Whenever parents are going in for technology, they're always coming in and asking what's the right laptop," she explained.
Morris said they ask the parents and the students questions about their lifestyle and what they need the computer for along with how they will be using it.
"We determine kind of one device that's going to encompass that all," she said.
She said workers spend months training, even before back-to-school, to make sure customers find the right devices.
Some items may be pricier than others, but Morris said they just ask many questions to make sure they get the right laptop for their specific needs.
"If it's something that's just surfing the web, a Chromebook is probably more likely what they're looking for," she said. "But with a Mac or our higher-end laptops, it's graphic design where speed and reliability is more important, then we can kind of talk about those possibilities."
While some parents may be concerned about exposing their young children to technology early, there are many apps and websites that can help start their learning.
"Exposing children in moderation right off the bat is important, because that's where things are going nowadays," she said.
