A veteran-heavy Magic Valley Water Polo team prepares for state

TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) The Magic Valley Water Polo team hit the water Wednesday evening in final preparations for the 2018 state championship.

The combined co-ed team features seven championships and the players are gliding through this week with one goal in mind, bring home another title.

Michael Ashby, a Canyon Ridge senior said, "most of our team has been playing for four or more years and we play the competition for awhile and we know how they play."

Minico senior Sydney Larsen said, "our whole team is on the swim team, the other teams usually have just one or two swimmers and so they're good for the first quarter and they're pushing through the whole time."

Kimberly senior Nathan Gardner explained, "I'd have to give it to our teamwork and coaches. The coaches really put in so much time and devotion. The team, we're one big happy family."

Canyon Ridge senior Andrew Dixon said, "it's definitely gaining popularity because Michael and I play at Canyon Ridge and it's grown as the years have gone by."

Jerome junior Kallee Ellsworth, "Jerome actually started with zero people in it, one person started and then six later joined."

"I'm looking forward to beating Coeur d'Alene," explained Dixon.

The championships run Friday and Saturday at the West YMCA facility in Boise.
