BUHL, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) We've seen not one, but two Division I signings in the past few days. Now Buhl's Alyssa Gorrell is signing with Idaho State University.
The senior thrower plays multiple sports for the Indians, but track and field is where she excels.
After winning state shotput in 2015, her personal bests right now occurred at the Buhl Rotary Invite on Friday, where she recorded a shot put of 42'4" and a discus throw of 133'7".
She wants to increase her distance to 44 feet for the shot put, a good mark for D-I athletes.
Right now she's number one in the state for shot put and her discus throw is second best.
Gorrell explained, "I didn't really expect it, I worked hard, it was an opportunity that came up and I'm excited to see what happens."
"She really took on a role as a leader as a junior to control the throwers. we were short on coaches, as far an athlete, she's tireless when it comes to perfecting her craft," added Buhl head track coach Seth Blick.
