TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) The CSI Golden Eagles women’s basketball team opened up Scenic West Athletic Conference play against Snow College.
The women's team who finished 11-5 last year in SWAC play.
At the half snow led the golden eagles by ten points, 36-26.
In the first half the badgers outshot the golden eagles in field goals 14-29 to 8-35, then in three-points 3-8 to 2-13.
But in the second half the women put their foot on the accelerator.
Tiena Afu finished the game with a double-double of 13 points and 16 rebounds adding two steals.
But three Golden Eagles were tied with being the leading scorer in Afu, Jamie Nielsen and Mallory LaPoole.
But Snow College kept hold of their lead the entire second half. The closest Snow let CSI get was at the very end of the game when the score was 66-68.
For Snow College Harley Hansen led with a double-double of 17 points and 16 rebounds. Savannah Domgaard and Jazmin Chavez both finished for the badgers with 12 points.
Snow wins the conference opener 69-66.
"I think it was eye opening for some of our kids who hadn't seen Scenic West Conference Play yet. A lot of young kids that you tell them the level of play steps up and I don't think we rose to the challenge. Give Snow a lot of credit, I thought they were well prepared, their players that play well came in here and played well," said Head Coach Randy Rogers.
