Canyon Ridge Softball prepares for state; Cantu signs NLI with Iowa JC

TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) The Canyon Ridge Softball team makes its fifth consecutive state appearance next weekend.

The Riverhawks battled the Bruins in a nine inning affair on Tuesday, coming out on top, 5-4.

On Tuesday Twin Falls used a balanced attack to keep Jerome wondering when the scoring output would stop as the Bruins run-ruled the Tigers 10-0.

Now the Riverhawks host the Bruins Saturday afternoon at 1 pm for the district championship.

Twin Falls has to beat Canyon Ridge twice to capture the crown, regardless of who comes away with the win, the Bruins will make their seventh consecutive trip to state.

Post Falls High School hosts the 2017 4A state championships May 19-20.

"We are state bound and go Hawks," exclaimed Cantu.

Riverhawks' ace Rosie Cantu makes it official with Marshalltown Community College in Iowa.

Last year Cantu made the Great Basin all-conference first team and helped the Riverhawks to a second-place finish at state.

The year before, they took fourth.

Her future collegiate team just lost to Iowa Western last week in the Region 11 Tournament. The Tigers finished the season with its second-straight winning campaign, at 23-19.
