College of Idaho brings lacrosse to Magic Valley youth

TWIN FALLS, Id. ( KMVT / KSVT ) Marcel Reed, the College of Idaho assistant lacrosse coach is running a camp this week for kids at CSI.

The Yotes currently compete as a club team, but hoping for varsity status in the next couple of years.

With 26 guys on the squad the Caldwell school is the only college in Idaho that issues scholarships for lacrosse, according to Reed.

Here in Twin Falls, Reed is trying to bring awareness to the sport and it starts with camps like this.

"Honestly it's all about word of mouth right now, kids seeing kids playing and camps like this, getting out there in the community and showing kids that there is another sport and right now it's the fastest growing sport on the west coast. There's a drive to have more kids here, they want a team, they want an actual program, something that's year–round and not just a taste of it like this," explained Reed.

If your child is between eight and 15 years of age wants to participate, the cost for Wednesday and Thursday is $55. The camp gets underway at 9 am in the quad.
