Austin Basterrechea has just been named the head coach of the men's and women's cross country and track programs.
He replaces Pat McCurry, who resigned after 12 years as head coach.
As an assistant, he helped both cross country teams to national top–10 finishes and then helped guide the women's track team to its fourth consecutive CCC Championship this spring.
Austin excelled as a Yote, winning four conference titles and earning All–American honors in the indoor heptathlon in 2012 and 2014 and the outdoor decathlon in 2013 and 2014.
