Skyline repeats as 4A state champions

POCATELLO, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) Minico playing Skyline for the 4A state championship Friday night.

The Spartans making their first ever appearance. However in order hoist the trophy, they have to take down the defending state champs the Skyline Grizzlies. The Grizzlies wouldn't waste any time starting the scoring in the first with a touchdown from Kyler Morgan and this won't be the last time we hear his name. Extra point goes wide.

Larry Vega, a critical part of Minico's offense has been shut down by the Grizzlies defense.

Morgan getting the hand-off again. this time he takes it up the middle dragging defenders with him into the end zone. The two point conversion would be good. Grizzlies lead 14-0.

But the Spartans weren't giving up. John Perrigot with the quarterback keeper, the push from his teammates and the Spartans are on the board with a successful two point,14-8.

But then came this, on the kickoff a new state title game record. Cruz Taylor returns the kick 99 yards to the house. This is a new state record by four yards. But Skyline wasn't stopping their momentum.

Kyler Morgan finding the end zone again for another score. The Grizzlies had a 27-8 lead at halftime and won 40-14. They repeat as 4A state champions.
