Team Idaho snaps losing streak at All-State game

BURLEY, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) After days of grueling practices and staying at the CSI dorms, area football players finally got to showcase their stuff at the All–State games.

Burley High School played host to the three games, first with seventh grade, then the eighth grade and finally eight–man game. It's Treasure Valley versus Idaho.

This eighth grade game came down to the wire, led by the Gooding coaching staff.

The teams knotted up at 14 with less than three minutes to go. Idaho gets a huge defensive stop and then Braden Bangston of Coeur d'Alene heaves up a perfect pass to Gooding's Zade Swainston while in stride. Idaho takes a 20–14 lead after missing the PAT. They would then prevent team Treasure Valley from ever crossing the 50 yard line to hang on for the win, the first time Team Idaho has won the eighth grade game in six years.

Future Gooding High School player Kurtis Adkinson earned Offensive MVP honors for his two touchdown runs.

"They cheered me on, helped block when I had runs, they would catch the ball when I threw it to them," Adkinson said of his teammates.

Meanwhile, the Treasure Valley seventh grade team won 34–14, while the West won 36–22 in the eight–man ranks.
