TWIN FALLS, Idaho ( KMVT / KSVT ) Andrew Barron passed away unexpectedly at 67 years old. His legacy in the athletics community spanned over several decades, including his own stint as a football player.
The former Idaho State star left his mark in the Big Sky Conference. He then pursued teaching, coaching and work in administration, a career spanning 34 years.
Since retiring in 2007, he couldn't shy away from games or meets.
He spent most of his career at Twin Falls High School and we spoke with principal Dan Vogt Thursday who shared some of his fond memories.
Vogt said, "I always remember him being jovial. He always had a smile, I guess he kind of had a Santa Clause type persona, I don't remember him ever getting upset. He's always positive, when you talked, it always seemed that he had a genuine interest in you."
There are a couple of ways you can celebrate Barron's legacy.
Instead of flowers, the family asks the community to donate to the Twin Falls Education Foundation.
Also on Saturday, Roper Auditorium will host a "Celebration of Life" at 10 am.
