Growing Number of Grandparents Stepping into Parental Role

By Aimee Burnett

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) A growing number of grandparents across the Magic Valley are taking on the role of parents. It's due to a variety of reasons, but increased drug use is a major factor. Shawna Wasko of the CSI Office on Aging talks about the issue and shares resources available to grandparents on this week's Connections.
We will also hear from a grandmother who took on the role several years ago and some of the challenges and joys she's experienced, as well as, a narcotic officer about the roll meth use is playing in the issue.

To contact Shawna call 736-2122 or stop by the office at 315 Falls Ave. in Twin Falls.
