Scholastic Spotlight: Wendell School DistrictWinning the boys soccer state title made for one of the major highlights this past year at Wendell. High School Principal and Coach Jonathan Goss says, "It was one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me and the players. It was the first time Wendell ever won a boy's state soccer championship." And the effects of a winning team have lasted through this school year.
"Having a successful soccer team at Wendell has had a big impact at our school." "And when kids are doing things outside the classroom, it has a very positive impact on our school." Wendell also enjoys a diverse population. "It really brings everyone together." Five years ago, just 39% of the Hispanic population scored proficient on AYP and now it's 89%. Superintendant Greg Lowe says, "We're very diverse in our school district, and we're really proud of that. Residents of Wendell voted last year to build a new elementary school.
