SUN VALLEY, Idaho (KMVT-TV) It's a beautiful, sunny day in Sun Valley, but for students at the Community School, just a typical Thursday.
David Holmes, Head of School says, "this is a unique place."
What was a traditional day school launched a residential component this school year.
Eight students now live in the residential hall, along with several faculty members.
The students include four skiers from around the country and another four from China.
"The great things about recruiting to the community school is we are in sun valley. That is a tremendously attractive part of school life."
But the heart of the school still has a Wood River touch.
"115 students are from the Wood River Valley...this was really a school that was built by parents and interested people in the community 37 years ago."
Adding new students to the school impacts other areas of the community as well.
"The cities of Sun Valley, Ketchum love the idea we're going to be bringing families who otherwise be coming here with kids on vacations are now even moving here."
Eight boarders now, perhaps 80 within the next five years.
"We think will have long–term economic benefits to the valley."
