TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT-TV) Jason Torgrimson teaches Information Technology at Twin Falls High School. As a teacher of ten years, he’s well aware of the capabilities of the students.

Torgrimson says, "they pick up on things very quickly, super energetic."

Torgrimson is the manager of the Southern Idaho Google Users Group. The group is gearing up for Global Android DevCamp 2012 held at the school. The event is a major opportunity for interested students and local developers.

"Those projects will be judged publicly and those winners will be introduced in Berlin at Droidcon and whoever wins best app essentially gets prizes."

When students take one of Torgrimson's classes, they learn languages used to develop web pages, web applications and languages for mobile platforms.

"Once they complete a series of those courses, they can enroll in the it help desk program."

Success in the I.T. program is not just about certificates and college credits.

"They are also able to network through the Google Technology User Group...we give them the foundations to build from and then it's just production."

The events surrounding the camp kick off on February 16th. Click here for the  official website. Please visit the GTUG website for more information including the registration form.
