Jerome, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Our segment Get Active is now Live Well Idaho. This week we're talking wellness as we preview this weekend's Jerome Health Fair. You'll find the usual; information booths and low–cost tests, but organizers are offering something new this year.

Spring is just around the corner and with the changing of the seasons, comes the Jerome Health Fair.

"It’s been a long-standing partnership, goes back to when it was st. Ben’s, now it’s St. Luke’s Jerome. It’s been a traditional thing they’ve done in the spring and any people in the community look forward to it," says Gary Warr, Director, Jerome Recreation District.

Being a multi–county affair, the event offers a wide variety of informational booths and tests.

Troy Ruhter, the lab manager at St. Luke's Jerome adds, "the biggest one is obviously our comprehensive cardic panel which is your lipids, different types of cholesterols and triglycerides and that is great for people into cardiac health, that’s why we try to say it that way.”

The health fair also offers free fitness classes and demonstrations. At 7 a.m., participate in the boot came for adults, at 8 and 9, there are Crossfit classes offered and then at 10 a.m., check out the taekwondo demonstration.

Warr adds, "so we just tried to offer a few things in terms of nutrition and activities so hopefully we get more people with kids or active younger adults in the community to come out and participate in this...It's a natural fit, we have a nice venue to come and do this and they can ship a lot of people through a short time."

Becoming a one–stop–shop for the community's health and fitness needs.

Plan on attending the Jerome Health Fair this Saturday at the Jerome Recreation District. The event kicks off early at 7 a.m. There will be free classes throughout the morning. Plus, testing is also available at a low–cost.
