Fit And Well Idaho: Hearing Seminar
Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) Hearing loss is a common problem and one not to be taken lightly.
That's why a free seminar is just around the corner, put on by Saint Luke's Magic Valley.
Hearing might be one of the five senses, but how much do we really value the ability to hear?
Doctors find there are misconceptions surrounding hearing loss.
One of the common situations, a person says it's just wax build-up. And that is contributing to all of their hearing loss.
"But that is commonly a more permanent hearing loss they will end up having, and they'll want to contribute to the loss so we're able to test their hearing and fully evaluate them to diagnose if it's something we can fix, versus something that just needs hearing aids, so that's definitely a misconception that we see," explained Dr. Kylan Peterson, ear, nose and throat physician.
All ages are invited to participate in the seminar and there's also an incentive to registering early.
"There are three seminars: hearing prevention, communicate with those hard of hearing and protection of hearing, plus free hearing tests to the first 50 people who register for the seminar," Peterson said.
Children can get tested as well. Plus the testing is more in-depth and accurate.
"Testing for schools tends to be a more of a screening test to help screen kids that may have an issue. If kids can pass the screening, then they're probably fine, but if they fail the screening, we'll probably screen them and test them to get a more accurate test," Peterson explained.
Make plans to attend the free seminar.
You can check out the seminar next Wednesday, October 23rd, starting at six in the evening at Saint Luke's Magic Valley.
Space is limited though, so you need to pre-register.
