Fit And Well Idaho: Patient Portal Now Active

Twin Falls, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KTWT-TV ) After months of discussion and teamwork, St. Luke's has established the Magic Valley Jerome Patient Portal. What was once limited to medical staff; your electronic medical records are now available at the click of a mouse.

The Patient Portal, a one–stop–shop for access to your medical records.

As Dr. Trevor Satterfield, Family Physician, St. Luke's Magic Valley explains, "right now it's a lot of information, they can see their lab results, they can see x–rays or MRI results, they can see vital signs, immunization records. It's a great feature for a mother who needs to get her immunization record for her children. She can just go online and print those off. Also, if you have a visit with your doctor, when you leave the office, there will be a summary of that visit on the patient portal that you can access at any time."

Many of us encounter a time over the weekend or late at night where we have a question or need to leave a comment for a doctor.

"They can send a message that will drop securely and i can respond back to that or they can request a message or see when their next appointment was on the portal," adds Satterfield.

The message is answered during normal business hours, but the patient portal gives 24–7 access to the patient.

The catch is, you have to be a patient of St. Luke's Magic Valley or Jerome. The site doesn't keep track of appointments at the Treasure Valley hospitals.

"We've been working with our team here to get it right and we'll look at more options in the future."

Currently the electronic medical records show data from the mid 2000's to the present.

To sign up for the Patient Portal, you can visit your local St. Luke's Clinic in person to request a pin. Or you can call (208) 814-0091 or (855) 890-3402 to request a copy of your pin to be mailed.

Once you have a pin, you can go online to complete the sign up process. Best of all, the service is free.
