Fit And Well Idaho: Wound Center

Gooding, Idaho ( KMVT-TV / KSVT-TV ) If you have a wound that's just not properly healing, have no fear, the Wound Center at North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding is here to help.

"So we have seen patients who have either not treatable wounds or patients who have received other treatment for wounds and are still not healing," explains Shellie Amundson, North Canyon Medical Center.

It's not uncommon to find patients healing at a rapid pace.

Medical experts claim it's because they're addressing all of the patient's needs, not just the wound.

"And what we find happening is patients have a lot of underlying conditions that are causing their wounds not to heal, and those are issues that we have to address, such as swelling in the extremity, or they have may a nutrition deficiency, like a protein deficiency, which is critical for the wound to heal," Amundson says.

The center features a devoted crew, including everyone from a nutritionist to a wound care physician.

"Generally some of those wounds that have really gone deep into the tissue, they do take time to heal, but with proper treatment, they do heal," Amundson explains.

The Wound Center is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 to 4:30.
