Shoshone Falls shows again why it's the 'Niagra of the West'

Most water which would otherwise flow over Shoshone Falls is usually diverted for irrigation or generation of electricity; but every so often the site in the Snake River Canyon near Twin Falls regains it's title as 'Niagara Of The West'.

This is the second time this year a large volume of water has gone over the falls, due in no small amount to a rainy spring which has filled many reservoirs to capacity.

Flows at Shoshone Falls are running between 16 and 20–thousand cubic feet per second, which is a relatively rare occurrence. The excess water comes just at the right time to help boost summer tourism in the region.
