It was about two years ago when people in Jerome County voted *yes* on a bond to fund a new senior center, now they're moving out of the old facility and into the new one.
The old senior center located on First Avenue in Jerome saw a lot of good years and many memories. But moving crews helped load out the items to take over to the new facility which is located a few blocks away.
Kristine Shelton, Jerome Senior Center Site Manager says, "It's been two years of construction, there have been some problems, but they worked themselves out and the city council and the mayor and the administration have been great in helping us deal with those."
Back on November 6, 2007, 857 of the 1001 who voted to approve the new senior center will be officially open on Monday. Shelton says the cost of the bond levy was 800,000 dollars with an additional 150,000 in grants to pay for parking, curbs and other things.
94 year old Jerome resident Albin Demczyk says, "The seniors deserve it. It's a centerpiece for Jerome and from the outer sections of other counties who come and see what it's all about."
Shelton says the former senior center will be turned into a museum for the Jerome County Historical Society.
