The world's most famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil, emerged from his hole in Pennsylvania this morning to see his shadow, which according to legend means winter will last another six weeks.

In actuality, with great pomp and ceremony, Phil was pretty much dragged from his custom made den by strange men in black top hats, as part of German folklore, that's become a major tourist attraction in the town northeast of Pittsburgh.

For the record, Phil has predicted more winter weather by seeing his shadow nearly 100 times since 1887.
