Burley H.S. drama students to present 'larger than life' play
02/12/10
The Burley High School drama club is hard at work practicing for a puppet show that's, literally, larger than life. BHS Instructor Richard Call says, "We're getting ready for a production of a Japanese puppet show called Issun Boshi - and we're putting on costumes and getting ready for rehearsal. This play is Japanese version of Tom Thumb; there are two views to the story, one is from our perspective, the other is where everything is a lot bigger. It takes 11 students to operate the massive monster Oni. In all, 5 puppets are in the show on loan from a university. Call says, "They are designed by a professor from Utah State University, he studied puppetry in Prague for 6 months. We just fell in love with the puppets and thought - this area needed to see these puppets!" The production runs February 23rd through the 26th, with show time starting at 7 pm, at the high school; tickets cost 5 dollars. Comments ( |
