Camping in South Hills over Memorial Day Weekend?

Twin Falls, Idaho - Overcast skies and soft forest roads make up a majority of the Sawtooth National Forest Campgrounds in the South Hills.

Forest Official David Ashby says South Hills campgrounds will be open, as well at rock creek, and a sublet division 30 miles east of Declo; most others are still closed due to snow, and those that are open may not have full services provided.

Every year, thousands of people camp at the Sawtooth National Forest for Memorial Day, if you visit, it's advised you bring your own water and take home your trash.

Another thing costing forest officials money and tax payer dollars, is vandalism.

According to Ashby, "Vandalism is always a problem in the forest, but this year in particular, we've had a lot of problems with folks taking signs down. When we have to replace signs and repair signs - it cost a lot of money."

They're also asking for your help to save money by preserving the trails.

Ashby says "When folks drive on them, when they're wet, it creates ruts, problems we have later."
