Angel Food Ministries Helping People With Food Boxes
TWIN FALLS, ID (KMVT-TV) - The increased price of groceries is difficult for many locals who are simply trying to make ends meet.
To help them out, the Angel Food Ministries is offering some assistance.
"It's in its beginnings, but it's growing by leaps and bounds. If you eat, you qualify. This isn't a hand out, it's a hand up,” said Pastor Paul Jordan, Angel Food Ministries.
The Angel Food Ministries started 17 years ago on the East Coast and is fairly new to the Boise area.
Just three months ago, those with the Ministry of "Church on a Mission" in Twin Falls brought the concept to the Magic Valley.
People can pick their items off a menu. Once a month, people place orders online or pay at the site and they'll pick up the food from Boise and bring it to Twin Falls.
“Right now, it only stops in Boise. So, we get it at four am and bring it here. It helps a lot of people because it's stretching the grocery dollar. They're getting $60 for $30," said Pastor Jordan.
The food costs half the price and every month, there are different options. The best part is every month there are fresh, frozen and packaged foods.
"I heard about this. Checked it out. I ordered some things. It's a neat ministry that's needed in this area,” said Betty Hancock, Jerome.
"We're on food stamps and we get this food,” said Howard Muhr, Kimberly.
As the program grows, those with Church on a Mission know they're "Blessing America one box at a time."
